This
information would be helpful for a large variety of people and settings. As a
pre service teacher I think it would be valuable information for educators
wanting to teach the basics to students. Having full understanding of the
entire technical nature of the skill would be beneficial when simplifying for
students. Also, a teacher could adapt different teaching techniques if students
are having trouble learning the skill. Rice
(2004) explains there is a difference between coaching athletes and students in
a school. Although a skill like the block start is technical when teaching
students, it must be simplified for a broad range of students all with
different understandings and interests, while still keeping it fun.
